In fact, at first glance, I just assumed it was a REALLY long haired man, though I might just be weird that way. On an unrelated note, I’ve grown fond of the idea that his/her monster may be blood. The concept just thrills me. I mean, it is fluid connective tissue of a sort, after all.
On yet another note, I’ve just started reading this comic and love everything about it. Creative concept, great character writing, surprising darkness at times; just awesome work, Magnolia!

Or maybe it’s thin from the absence of muscles (yet still can move due to external function), so the monster could be muscles.

On the other hand, she might not have monsters at all and just treats her crowbar as if it’s a friend/pet like some creepy psycho.

I agree with you and Mootelp below that she looks more around Julies sisters age than that of the main characters who seem to be preteens around 12-14.
