Awwww, poor baby looks so frustrated. Parents have gotta be freaked out too.
D:
What a nightmare for the parents… I’m imagining they’ve already taken their baby to a doctor, but have no explanation for why their child is suddenly mute… knowing something is wrong but not what’s causing it or whether anything can be done to help…
Between this and seeing West’s home situation, this is a very emotional chapter, and executed so well. I am continually impressed with the strength of your characters and storytelling, Magnolia! You should be proud.
Its the same situation as if the parents were deaf, except its the other way around in that the baby is mute, or at least they think he is mute.
Still, the parents definetly look frustrated.
At least they have someone who can help them out, even if they don’t know it.
Actually, if you think about it, the doctor would have an explanation, the organ the monster is made from would be missing.
Well I mean, actual stuff like that happens. I have a friend who was born deaf and his parents didn’t find out that that was what was wrong with him until he was five.
“Hi, your baby is mute because his or her vocal cords turned into a monster!”
For the first time I’m actually wondering how you put a monster back in its host body, if it can be done at all. I mean, if you’re a sinister scientist of a plucky adventurous kid, I guess you can get by, but for a baby to grow up with a disembodied (at the very least) voice? That’d be awful. I’m looking forward to seeing how the kids try to fix the situation.
Well If the parents are understanding and allow the monster and baby to be reunited, just think of the free baby monitor, no batteries needed!
Also, have fun at SDCC!
D: Such a sad baby….
Yeah.
I wonder how Greenie got separated from his host?
Intentional abandonment, perhaps?
Whew, I’m relieved the baby is ok and his voice monster is with the good guys. Though, what would be the next step here? Tell the parents? Would they even believe them? And what are they supposed to do with the voice monster now? SO MANY QUESTIONS!
Hey Magnolia, will the kid and Greenie get their own entry in the about page eventually (along with his parents due to his age)?
Nancy and Red might get in there, but they’re even more unknown than these two at this point.
I just realized, things are going to be hell when he reaches the toddler stage, lol.
Babies can and do learn sign language. They often pick it up faster than speech. Nguyen Jr. will know as many signs as a normal toddler knows words.
Lol, no, I’m talking about the terrible twos.
I want to be at SDCC! For exactly two reasons: Monster Pulse, and the Derpy MLP exclusive. Sadly, I will get neither!
There’s something extremely sad about the fact that she was trying to HIDE the baby.
It could be a Moby wrap or sling, both of which would hide a newborn.
It definately looks like a sling to me. We used them with both our kids, and they are amazing. And if I am not mistaken, common in the area the couple is from. They seem to have more an air of sadness and Weight of the World than shadiness to me.
Oh man…
Watermelon cube AND magnolia!?!
I sure wish I wasn’t such a hermit so I could go and see you guys!
T-Shirts?! /o\ Oh well, have a great time! I don’t know what I’d do as a parent, if that was the ONLY thing amiss with my infant. Probably imagine all manner of terrible afflictions that just haven’t been noticed yet. I have no idea what Bina is planning on doing, but I have a feeling it won’t go as desired.
Shouldn’t it have a marker thing on its throat like the other kids have where their organ is missing?
