In 2016 I wrote a short little visual novel called Rose of Winter, which takes place in a fantasy world. I decided that if I ever wanted to do more fantasy stories, I would expand on Rose of Winter's world, building it up little by little with each story, like Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea.

So when I started developing The Golden Boar, I thought I would set it in one of the locations described in Rose of Winter- the island of Moonforest, home of Prince Kuya (a character in the game, who had a cameo here in chapter 2).

Moonforest was never actually seen in Rose of Winter, but Kuya describes it as a place of perpetual nightfall. I thought it would be kind of a pain to set a story in a place like that, but I decided to accept the challenge. In the end I think it works for the story Golden Boar ended up being... and it kind of works thematically for a sexy story to always be "after dark", haha.
