I know that wasn’t what they were going for, but he kinda looks like he is about to burst out laughing in the fourth panel. I think it’s too much of an uptick on the corner of the mouth that does it.
You sure know how to make people feel for your characters. Now i’m all sad for him.

Bahaha, Grimdark4eva! I can’t wait to see how it gets even grimmer and more hopeless week after week. Seriously, at this rate I’m pretty sure (spoiler warning?) Bina won’t actually survive.
Some character is going to eaten by some other character by the end of the month. You read it here first.
Des eats Kera but is unable to process it because he has no stomach. He dies, so does Guuzy. Seeing this, Bina has a heart attack, ends up in intensive care, and is captured by SHELL. After the only people he’s ever been close to are torn from him, Abel and Rixis run off to the Sahara Desert to live in solitude, leaving Julie by herself as a lonely middle child.
Calling it now.
And while in the Sahara desert, Abel looks directly at the sun.
He must wear a double eye patch from then on. B(
Rixis and Abel spend the next few months staggering around, bumping into cacti
The sheer intensity of his gaze (before he gets blinded, that is) kicks the sun’s activity up several notches. The global temperature rises by 4 degrees C.

It only feels like this because we’re getting gradual updates. Read the archive from the beginning and the dark moments pass by pretty quickly.

In fact, you can see Rixis hiding inside Abel’s hood precisely so we can’t see it cry.

I’m sure that it must be mortifying for him right now but I’m really glad that all of this is coming out in front of Julie. I think that this is important for her to experience this side of him so she can finally see things from his perspective and realize the serious issues that come with being a homeless kid.
Besides, I feel like he wouldn’t want to break down in front of Bina and Des would have no idea what to do. He’s losing it in front of Julie, who he already thinks has a low opinion of him. That’ll make it easier for him to let it out

I want to note that as angry as she has been (and as much flack as she’s taken in the comments for it), Julie is still trying to find any excuse to soften things for Abel. I think they’re both very strong people here, Julie for her compassion, and Abel for his unwillingness to avoid responsibility for what he’s done.
Abel’s various faces are seriously killing me here.

Gonna guess the obvious here: Abel got turned alongside a friend or family member, and the kid in question freaked out/didn’t want the monster, so he killed it. Venturing another step in that direction, gonna say it was a brother? Would explain why he had to run away from home at least.
Well, he said it was his fault, if the other kid asked or he didn’t know what had happened then that would sort of be an accident.
I’m curious to know what the full story is behind what happened….

Everyone is guessing that the person he killed was a sibling or a friend. I SAY HE KILLED A MEMBER OF SHELL!!! If it does turns out to be that (a member of SHELL I mean) , I said it first!
But if it was a member of SHELL then it would’ve been an act of self defense, and Able has said that it wasn’t “exactly” self defense.
