  1. Oh my God, Magnolia, you are so dirty.

    I love that about you.

I also love this scene. Dirty and beautiful.

  2. Pork says:

Is…is she smelling her finger there?

    • Loki says:

It looks that way, but I think the actual intent is that his comment “you’re the first person I’ve ever let touch it” is making her look at the finger which did the deed in a kind of unexpected wonder.

  3. DoubleW says:

Figured it out: the only thing more punk than being in love with a skull is being a skull in love.

Also, it took me this long to figure out that Julie’s eyes are grey.

  4. gangler says:

Oh, I thought she meant what it feels like to wear his face.

    • DS Piron says:

Ditto, but this makes more sense, she already has a face on, wearing two would just be awkward.
And not representative of his experience, as he doesn’t have a nose or ears to get in the way, and can see through the eyes..

    • Shadow12000 says:

Well, he said before it felt like he’s wearing a mask, so I kinda guessed it had to do with the skull.

Best. Webcomic. Ever. Seriously, I mean it. It takes a special and awesome skill to take a character who starts out as a creepy stalker, then not only justify it, but make him cute, adorable, and punky. While Bina x Julie has been my OTP up till now, he’s sold me on Ed x Julie. Which makes me sad, as a lesbian I am always in favor of the girls! But he’s so cute! I love him so much! Punk music is also best music!

  6. Andrew says:

Freaking love this comic! And I hate to be this guy, but is it supposed to say “back when it WAS attached properly”? :P

  7. Anon says:

The double entendre is strong in this page.

  8. Scott says:

Found your comic while checking out all the contributors for Namco High. As many amazing talented people were involved in that, your comic is the one that snagged me. Started yesterday and finished the whole archive today (all while I should have been working), then subscribed! Keep on rockin’!

  9. Elizabetonth says:

If he’s asking her what it feels like, does that mean that he doesn’t know what it feels like himself, or just that he wants her reaction?

  10. Elizabetonth says:

If he’s asking her what it feels like, does that mean that he doesn’t know what it feels like himself, or just that he wants her reaction?

  11. Emma says:

Ahhh this page is adorable! Glad to see that Ed has the kind of concerns that all teenagers have – that they’re ugly! Everyone gets low at that point in their life. Poor guy!

  12. kev says:

Love it! But there are some issues with proportions here yeah? The bare skull probably shouldn’t be bigger than Julie’s head, and it’s hard to see how it could be a perspective thing.

    • Z says:

I think the cartoony style justifies it. It would be odd to have one character running around with a much smaller head, even if that made more technical sense.

Plus, if I’m not mistaken, there are some variations in skull size between individuals, and male-bodied people would generally have larger skulls? Not to the extent pictured but, again, it’s a cartoon. :)

      • Zee says:

I really think it could be left to “cartoony style” and the explanation you gave about the weird to see a character with a tiny skull head running around. Basically, TL;DR, it’s a stylistic choice, stop gripin’.

    • gangler says:

Some heads are bigger than others.

  13. Lukemanback says:

Reminds me of a bit from a song.

    “It’s just a mask
Peel the skin away and we’ll trade
I’m not so attached to this face”

  14. Loki says:

Reminds me a bit of the daemons in the Golden Compass / His Dark Materials series. King of magical, and letting someone else touch yours is a very big deal (and yes, the very same double-entendre is there, too).

  15. JediaKyrol says:

oh my glob I’m a moron! It finally clicked…the monsters take whatever you have a bigger focus on at the time…A broken heart, a health-food only tummy, beautiful flowing hair, an ugly face. …Abel was probably just wondering what the frig he was looking at when he met his…

    • Nikoru says:

I thought it was what the “ghost” passed through but that makes a lot of sense

    • Koichi says:

      Bina had a broken heart?

    • Lizzy says:

Oh. My. God. You are brilliant.

    • Zebra says:

…what about Ned? Haha, maybe he just got strong-armed into accepting the monster xD

    • Loki says:

Well, but then there’s the whole issue of how ghosts seem to seek out certain people. Maybe the ghosts have a kind of bodypart-inner-identity, and seek out people who seem to resonate with that bodypart in a way that’s to their liking?

This theory is complicated a little by the finger-monster. How would a ghost go about finding someone particularly fixated on half a finger, or who had strong “upper part of a finger” mojo? Hmm.

Then there was also the ghost that possessed guy-Lulenski-killed (forget his name). Wasn’t it targeting Lu, but then Roger (was that his name?) shoved her away at the last minute? And then it started affecting his face (or was it his moustache)?

Maybe it’s the case that although the ghosts have preferences, whoever they happen to possess – be it by choice or by accident – will cause them to take the form of whatever that person’s fixated on. I guess Roger was worried about his moustache?

On a final note, it’s kind of silly to be trying to make sense of an entirely fictional world. The reasons behind why things are the way they are here is entirely of Magnolia’s choosing, whether we like em or not. EG, ghosts are drawn to people who smell like peanut butter, and they take the form of whatever body part they feel would make themselves a nifty monster.

    Oh, Ed, honey… :(
